Wassane
Zailachi
began her diplomatic career as an Officer at Morocco’s
Department of American Affairs in 1991, which was soon
followed by being named the Counselor in charge of
Economic & Commercial Affairs in 1992 and the Counselor
in charge of Protocol in 1995, at the Embassy of the
Kingdom of Morocco in Paris, France. By 1998, she was
the Counselor of the Cabinet of the Under Secretary, in
charge of Maghreb & Arab Countries at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs & Cooperation. In 1999-2001, she
progressed at the Department of Cultural and Scientific
Cooperation as Desk Officer of the Protocol & Cultural
Agreements Department and then the Bilateral Cultural
Agreements Department. Her next assignment was as Desk
Officer of Canadian Affairs at the Department of
American Affairs. From 2003 to 2009, she served as
Deputy Director of North America, Central America & the
Caribbean at the Department of American Affairs. Since
May 2009, she has been the Deputy Chief of Mission at
the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Washington,
D.C.; until recently, September 15, 2011, when she
became the Embassy’s
Chargée
d’Affaires.
Ms.
Zailachi
speaks English, French and Arabic. Her Honors include
the Canadian
Feuille
d’Or du
Mérite
(2008) and the Morocco-American Friendship Award
(2009). Ms.
Zailachi
received her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations
at American University in Paris, France and her Master
of Arts in International Relations at Boston
University.
